Takedas Home Office in Deerfield
November 2002: Baxter International Inc. puts neighboring 70-acre parcel up for sale
December 2002: Takeda purchases the site from Baxter
January 2003: Deputy General Counsel Carm Zammuto, Security Director Marc Fidanza,
Sr Director Tax Treasury and Risk Management Scott Dessing and Senior Manager Corporate
Facilities Paula Mengarelli are asked to become the Takeda Land Development Team
August 2003: Takeda chooses Hines, an international real estate firm, to act
as development manager for the new headquarters facility
April 2004: Signs are erected on the Lake Cook and Saunders corners of the
Takeda property announcing that it will be the new home for the Takeda headquarters campus
October 2004: Takeda hires Thompson, Venulett, Stainback & Associates, Inc., Architects
(TVS) to design the new headquarters
February 1, 2005: The Village of Deerfield City Council and Mayor Steve Harris officially
approve Takeda as an annexed corporate member of the Deerfield community
February 2005: Final external architectural design is approved by TPC, TPNA and TGRD executives
April 5, 2005: Governor Rod Blagojevich awards Takeda more than $15 million in Opportunity
Returns, a regional economic development strategy with the goal of successfully partnering
with companies and communities to help Illinois reach its economical potential
May 6, 2005: Takeda'a groundbreaking ceremony commences on the new headquarters campus. Employees
celebrate the new headquarters with a reception at the Marriot Lincolnshire
May 9, 2005: The first crane is rolled on the site and construction officially begins
July 2005: More than 50 percent of the dirt is moved to the site to level out the property for
beginning stages of building
August 2005: Steel is erected
November 10, 2005: Last Beam Goes Up
December 2005:Work begins on inside of both buildings
August 9, 2006: Furniture Arrives
September 14, 2006: Move In Begins
October 20, 2006: Grand Opening Ceremony
