Commitment to Education

Supporting the next generation of innovators means supporting science education. Takeda believes in the power of education for young people and works with numerous organizations to provide scholarships and fellowships in the sciences.

Achievement Rewards for College Scientists

As part of our ongoing effort to advance the future of science education, Takeda has an alliance with the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation (ARCS), the nation's largest science scholarship program. Through its partnership with the ARCS, Takeda annually awards scholarships to students pursuing degrees in science-related fields at Chicago-area universities.

ADA/TPNA Mentor-Based Minority Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

A partnership with the American Diabetes Association Research Foundation and Takeda for a Mentor-Based Minority Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports the research efforts of three minority Ph.D. candidates per year for three years with a $315,000 grant. By funding groundbreaking scientific investigations and helping to promote ethnic diversity in the community of advanced diabetes research, this program has further strengthened Takeda’s commitment to science education.

American Cancer Society's Summer High School Research Program

Takeda Global Research & Development Center, Inc. (TGRD) focuses on preclinical work and clinical development activities in the United States. As the US research and development arm of the Takeda family of companies, TGRD has a partnership with the American Cancer Society to support science education in Chicago. In 2008, Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, Inc. and TGRD committed funding for the American Cancer Society Summer High School Research Program Recipient. The program gives students valuable hands-on experience in Chicago-area scientific research facilities, where they have the opportunity to broaden their understanding of cancer's impact on the population.

Young Women's Leadership Charter School

Takeda provides funding to this unique program, which offers urban girls a college preparatory education emphasizing math, science, and technology, areas where women, particularly women of color, have long been seriously underrepresented.

Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods Chamber of Commerce

Takeda has partnered with the Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods Chamber of Commerce Dollars for Scholars chapter to offer three college scholarships to graduating high school seniors residing in the 60015 ZIP code. In an effort to directly impact young members of our immediate community, a community service scholarship in the amount of $1,000 and two $5,000 science scholarships are awarded each April.
